These are more than your average metal door, our iron doors are constructed using U.S. 1/8" thick steel tubing for the frame and jamb. Iron scroll, size depending on design, is solid hand forged steel. Even the glass panel is constructed using a thick steel frame. These luxury iron doors also feature operative glass panels opening independently from the door panels. This feature offers the most secure system of checking your guests. The components we use are superior over any you will find on the market. Our hinges are rated to operate at over 1000 lbs each, and our window latches are decorative scroll cast iron. A true decorative iron entry door has three main objectives by which any iron door can be easily judged.
The first is structural integrity. A true iron door is constructed using steel tube for the jambs and panels. The thickness of this tube varies from one manufacturer to another; thicker gauge equals a lower gauge number (ex. 11ga is thicker than 12ga).
Second, is longevity. Using heavy duty components such as large bushed hinges and cast iron window latches is integral in constructing an iron entry door that will last.
Third is the design and execution. Cutting corners these days there is an upsurge in the use of CNC cut scroll instead of good old fashioned hand forged solid steel scroll. This is an abomination to the trade and should never be excepted as or considered a serious contender for a true iron entry door.
